CROCODILES

Okay, I'm well aware I'm not exactly holding my finger on the pulse with this discovery, but nonetheless I'm really enjoying US act Crocodiles. Yep, they are obviously huge fans of JAMC/Spacemen 3-type feedback and distortion, mixing this sound with a sometimes primitive, sometimes 80s new wave inspired drum beat. Permeating all of this are reverb-soaked vocals and religiously dark lyrics that wouldn't be out of place coming from Jim Reid's mouth. For lovers of noise rock, it makes for some enjoyable listening. The San Diego two-piece supported Asobi Seksu last night in New York (any NYC readers go? Share in the comments how the show was). They'll be playing at Pianos on Saturday night (4/4). For those of us geographically hindered from making it to the shows, head here for some free downloads from their forthcoming debut, Summer of Hate. I'll definitely be looking forward to getting my copy.
