VENICE IS SINKING

Happy Easter everyone. I hope you are having a relaxing/productive/fabulous long weekend. Personally, mine's been somewhat eventful, but nowhere near as productive as I'd intended. This is possibly due to a strangely crazy Thursday night - possibly because, to be honest, I can't remember much of what happened. A friend's gig turned into an impromptu house party at a friend of a friend's house, which turned into a very hazy following few days.

As a result, the eight or so album reviews I was hoping to churn out haven't exactly happened. I did get a lovely email from a band hailing from Athens, Georgia though, called Venice is Sinking, asking me to check out their music. I like what I've heard. Their newest long-player, Azar was released towards the end of March. I'm not too sure how to describe their sound. Hints of psychedelia weave their way through dreamy and fun pop, with beautiful harmonised male/female vocals over the top. Perhaps it's better if you check them out for yourself - the links below are to a couple of MP3's the band kindly provided. I'm hoping to get my hands on a copy of the album - so a review should follow soon.
